What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job, is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries. Rhinoplasty involves reducing or increasing the nose’s size, changing its tip or hump, defining the nostrils, or adjusting the angle between the nose and upper lip. Additionally, it is able to correct malformations or post-traumatic defects, eliminating respiratory problems.

In a nose job, either an open technique or a closed technique may be used. The open technique is used for more advanced abnormalities inside the nose, such as a deviated septum, scar tissue, and excess cartilage. The closed technique only requires an incision in the soft tissue between the nostrils.

During a rhinoplasty procedure, the surgeon will make incisions in the skin of the nose, either inside the nostrils or along the columella (the strip of skin that separates the nostrils). The surgeon will then reshape the bones and cartilage of the nose to achieve the desired shape and size. In some cases, the surgeon may need to add or remove tissue to achieve the desired result.

Having an unattractive nose is common, but that shouldn’t keep you from enjoying life. A number of aesthetic enhancements can be achieved with rhinoplasty to relieve self-consciousness

In addition to giving you a stunning nose, a nose job can help you make your nose more proportionate to your face. Ultimately, this type of approach allows our patients to be satisfied with their results and preserves the nose’s internal structures.
