What is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is a condition in which men’s breast tissue becomes enlarged. In many cases, it is caused by an imbalance of hormones, specifically an excess of estrogen or a deficiency of testosterone. Gynecomastia can affect men of any age, but teenage boys and those over 50 are most likely to experience it.
Gynecomastia can be caused by a number of factors, including medications, hormonal imbalances caused by medical conditions such as kidney failure or testicular cancer, and drugs such as anabolic steroids. Also, obesity and aging can contribute to it.
An enlarged breast does not necessarily indicate a man’s fitness level. Gynecomastia is a condition in which male breasts develop excess tissue. The problem may not be fat; therefore, exercising will not fix it.
Surgically removing the excess breast tissue is the most common treatment for gynecomastia.
HOW DOES GYNECOMASTIA SURGERY WORK?
Male breast reduction involves removing excess skin, breast tissue, and fat from the male breasts. Liposuction and surgical removal of excess tissue are common techniques used in gynecomastia surgery.
If you are considering male breast reduction, speak with your surgeon about their experience with the procedure. Unlike breast reduction in women, this procedure should not be performed in the same way. It is important that your surgeon has experience with male breast reduction specifically so that your chest and breasts retain their masculine characteristics.
It may take a few days to a few weeks for you to recover from your gynecomastia surgery. Recovery can take a few months if tissue is surgically removed. Scars from surgery will either appear in the natural crease under your breast or under your armpit.
Male breast reduction results are permanent – excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin are removed forever. It is, however, important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Recurrence of gynecomastia can occur as a result of significant weight gain, the use of steroids, or certain medical conditions. Moreover, drugs that affect testosterone levels could also affect your results.
Gynecomastia can affect your self-confidence and cause you to feel unconfident about your appearance, so male breast reduction may be the right solution for you.
